My Very First Blog

I guess I'll begin with a little background history. I grew up in a very strict Christian home and have since ventured out on my own. I still believe in God, although am no longer tied down by the confining and ridiculous demands the "church" makes. I am a very confident and happy woman and love the life I have made for myself.

I traveled a lot as a teenager/young adult; I made it to Germany, England, Belgium, The Netherlands, France and Austria by the age of 21. I lived in Germany for two years as a nanny and am now pretty fluent in the language. I also speak Spanish, but in California, it would be crazy not to! I would say I am conservative, politically, but generally open-minded and always willing to learn.

I met the man of my dreams when I was 21 years old, we fell in love fast, had our first daughter Sophia about a year after we met. We got married the day before Valentine's Day the following year and now have our second (and last) bundle of joy to complete our family. He is the hardest working man that I know and the most dedicated as well. He works so hard for our little family and I have the privilege of staying home and raising our daughters. I am currently going to school (online) to become an elementary school teacher. At times I get frustrated that I didn't go to school straight out of high school, but at the same time, I am grateful for all the experiences I went through on my travels. I am surrounded by amazing people; my daughter's are very loved and very fortunate.

My daughters. I love the sound of that. They are truly my purpose in life. Sophia, my 23 month old is the most adorable and quick-witted child I know. She is very intelligent and I'm not sure if that means we're doing something right (as far as parenting goes) or we just got lucky. She is not quite two yet, but already knows her colors, shapes and the numbers 1-10. She is a handful to say the least, but very sweet at the same time. My youngest daughter, Zoe, is 2 months old. She is the easiest baby ever created. She eats (breastfed) like a champ, sleeps through the night, and hardly fusses. She has the biggest and brightest smile and when she coos at me, it melts my heart.

This blog is going to be about the ups and downs of my life. As a mother, wife, friend, sister, daughter... all of the above. The main reason I am keeping this blog is for my own sanity. I find writing very therapeutic and if there are those out there that care enough to read my blog and go through my daily struggles and accomplishments with me, holler!
